The Monthly Ounce
FAQ

Questions, answered.

Where is my metal?

In an insured vault we operate. It is allocated to you from the moment your purchase settles, which means it is your property held for you, not a balance we owe you. We never lend it, lease it, or pledge it, and we hold no lien over it.

Do you ship it to me every month?

No. We buy metal and it stays in the vault, which is what keeps storage economical and avoids a taxable delivery every month. You can take physical delivery whenever you want it — see below for what that costs.

What does it cost to take delivery?

There is a $600 fabrication application fee, plus a per-ounce rate that depends on the form: about $60/ozt for one-ounce gold coins, down to about $22/ozt for a kilo bar. Add $25 processing and insured shipping. The flat fee is why small withdrawals are uneconomic and why there is a one-ounce minimum — you are quoted every available form, cheapest first, before you commit to anything.

Why can't I withdraw metal I just bought?

New metal is held for 90 days from the debit that funded it. A bank transfer can be reversed for months after it settles; gold that has left the vault cannot. The hold attaches to the funding, not to your balance — so metal you bought last year is always available even while a recent purchase is still held.

Can I change or cancel?

Anytime, from your dashboard. Change your amount, pause the monthly purchase, or withdraw the authorization entirely. No contracts and no cancellation fee. Metal already in the vault stays yours either way.

Do you hold my money?

No, and this is deliberate. There is no balance to top up. Each debit is tied to the specific purchase it funds — the authorization you sign says so in those words. We hold metal for you; we never hold your cash.

Do you charge sales tax?

Purchases into the vault are not a delivery, so there is generally no sales tax at the time you buy. Tax can apply when you take physical delivery, and it depends on your state and the form of the metal. We will tell you before you complete a withdrawal.

Is this investment advice?

No. The Monthly Ounce sells physical precious metals; we don't provide investment advice and nothing here is a guarantee of value or return. Metal prices go down as well as up.
